TRANSIT FLY Review: Transit at Detroit International Airport is unfortunately
quite limited. While there is not a fast way to Downtown Detroit beside taxis or
airport shuttles, there is a public transit option that often gets overlooked. For
passengers that are looking to save dollars more than time on their route into
Downtown Detroit the SMART Bus Route #125 may be an option. While the
Route 125 SMART Bus is not for passengers in a rush (Downtown Detroit travel
time is approx. 90 minutes) at only $1.50 (one-way) the SMART Bus price is
1/30 of the price of a taxi. For service to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan
several shuttle bus companies offer frequent service at very reasonable rates.

SMART Bus Route #125 provides direct service to Detroit Metro
Airport to/from Downtown Detroit with a consistent schedule, however
the frequency of the route unfortauntely is a drawback.

Where to Catch: SMART Bus Route #125 leaves from the roadway
outside of the baggage claim area at the new
McNamara Terminal
(serves as the Northwest Airlines NWA World Gateway as well as the
terminal serving SkyTeam and other International carriers).

At the
Smith Terminal (serves all other Domestic Airlines) the
SMART Buses leave from the outer roadway of the Lower Level near
the Ground Transportation offices .

SMART BUSES leave each Terminal at slightly different times so
please consult the SMART schedule prior to traveling.
*The SMART Bus Route #125 takes local roadways and makes
frequent stops along its route. The amount of time to get from DTW
Detroit Metro Airport to Downtown Detroit is quite long in that it takes
90 minutes, howver the Route #125 does provide an excellent option
for those looking to get to or from Downtown Detroit for a very
reasonable fare of $1.50.
*Depending upon which terminal passengers are flying out of the
parking options available will vary.

**Rates listed are for up to the 1st 2 hours.
